Just imagine these tasty ingredients and textures combined for a melt-in-your-mouth cookie: brown sugar, honey, whole wheat flour, and cinnamon. If I was a teddy bear, and teddy bears could speak, I would say, “warm and fuzzy tummy treats”! Our Honey Graham cookie recipe uses graham flour — a type of whole wheat flour — for a thin, rolled cookie that bakes up crisp. So, make it into a cute teddy bear shape for all the bears, large and small, in your house.
1-1/2 cups whole wheat graham flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons cold water
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; knead dough until a soft ball forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill 30 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8" thickness. Use teddy bear cookie cutter to cut out dough. Place on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 425 oven for 3 to 5 minutes or until golden brown. Cool cookies on baking sheet (cookies will become crisp as they cool). Store in an airtight container.
Yield: about 3 dozen cookies

Happy National Teddy Bear Day to one and all!
