Diamond Art is one of the most adored crafts of the 21st century. Whether you're 18 or 80, you can dip, dot, and dazzle all day! But not as many people know about Freestyle. It's the program that allows you to be the designer. With just a little bit of guidance, freestyle is one of the easiest crafts out there. You can incorporate it into everything from home to wardrobe to gifting and everywhere in between. This purse, for example, is a one-of-a-kind bag that's perfect for all you fashionistas out there who are always searching for the most unique, stylish thing out there. What's better than being able to create it yourself?
-Diamond Art canvas of your choice (our example is linked here) - Strong adhesive for backing (ie fabric glue, hot glue, needle and thread) -Your favorite sewing needle and thread (thick thread or embroidery floss works best) - Basic tote/purse -Scissors -Optional: extra accessories (ie pom poms, tassels, beads)
Let's get started!
There isn't a big learning curve to Diamond Art, just dip, dot, and dazzle! Diamond Art is meant to be a leisurely craft that lets you put the canvas away for later if you want to. Complete in one day or take a whole week, it's all up to you!
After you've dazzled your canvas, carefully cut out your design and get ready to sew! To keep the edges of the canvas from fraying and to provide extra support, carefully line the edges of your cut out with embroidery floss or thread.
Once you're ready to place your design, add the adhesive of your choice to your bag. Lay the canvas piece flat and smooth it out to get rid of air bubbles. Don't be worried about your gems falling off, our adhesive is strong and durable! If you want even more support, stitch a few tacks onto your canvas.
Time to accessorize!
Now that your Diamond Art is attached and ready to dazzle, all that's left are the finishing touches. Make your Diamond Art purse one of a kind with tassels, pom poms, extra gems, or whatever your imagination can think of! Show the world how creative you can be, now is your time to shine! This design would also look great on a throw pillow or jean jacket.
It's that simple! This is a great and unique way to utilize your favorite Diamond Art canvases to the fullest. Now just sit back, relax, and wait for the compliments to flood in! And, as always, remember to tag us on social media with #leisurearts and @leisureartsinc as we always love seeing what's happening in your crafty corner!
Crafting is fun and fulfilling, but can sometimes feel wasteful. With Earth Day coming up this month, we here at Leisure Arts have been thinking about how to reduce waste and make our hobbies more sustainable. Whether you want to waste less or just need to make room for new supplies, we can help you make your crafting more eco-friendly. From home decor to wardrobe updates, being sustainable with your crafting is easier than you think.
Dress up your wardrobe with Diamond Dotz. With strong adhesive and 13 faceted gems, you can step up your dazzle with ease. Diamond Art Freestyle is all about using extra gems or buying your favorite colors and letting the dots fall where they want! While this book provides more of a guide, it's a great first step on your Freestyle journey. It's also a perfect way to use up those extra gems without throwing them away or having to find space and storage for them.
What do you do with all those old T-shirts that never get worn but you don't want to throw out? Take those treasured memories and well-earned mementos and turn them into a quilt! Perfect to give as a gift or remind yourself of good times, T-shirt quilts are a great way to sustainably craft. You can use scraps and small precuts to embellish them, and can even use an old top sheet as your base. Reducing, reusing, and recycling has never been so cozy!
If you're looking for ways to waste less in your craft, turn to your stash! Stash busting is a term for purposefully using up your stash of yarn, fabric, and other materials. It's also one of the best ways to promote sustainability in your own home! It's the waste-not, want-not mentality. These 6 projects are meant to be created with small amounts of yarn in various colors, making it the perfect stash busting companion.
Being sustainable doesn't mean you have to limit yourself. Whether you've never tried punch needling or it's your favorite craft, it's a great way to use up yarn in a textural, stylish way. It's especially great for adding to existing materials, like jackets, purses, pillows, and more. It adds a dimensional element to old pieces in a modern, fun way. Even the smallest scraps of yarn can be salvaged with punch needling!
No matter how you do it, try to challenge yourself this month to be more sustainable in your life practices. From busting your stash to crafting with found materials, there's so many ways to be more eco-friendly and less wasteful. As always, tag us with @leisureartsinc or #leisurearts so we can see what's happening in your crafty corner.
It's one of our favorite times of the year: National Craft Month! We'll use any excuse to craft but this month we consider it mandatory. Whether you have just a few minutes or days at your disposal, 'tis the season to get creating! All month we'll be showing you some of our favorite projects and products, you're sure to fall in love with one. Let's take a look at some of our classic favorites.
Diamond Art Freestyle
Diamond Art is one of our favorite modern crafts. There's so many things to dot and so little time! Although it's not for everyone, Freestyle is a great way to explore the craft, test your skills, and use up extra Dotz from your finished canvases. If you need a little direction, a book like Diamond Dotting Paper Crafting is the guide for you. With patterns for everything from desk accessories to cards, you'll find your way to Freestyle heaven!
Not only is it National Craft Month, it's also the start of spring! Welcome the sunshine and flowers with some crocheted afghans. You'll keep warm during those crisp mornings but feel warm with pride while holding your handmade blanket. Spring Afghans is full of afghans that are perfect for springtime preparation.
Whether you want to get into a new craft or you just love looms, this is the bundle for you! Designed specifically for beginners, you don't have to worry about picking anything out or making sure you have everything, it's all here. You'll be covered from top to toe in loom knitted goodies and you'll have enough projects to keep you busy until next National Craft Month!
It's not always about the big, time consuming projects. Sometimes it's the little things that mean the most. This mini maker is perfect for new stitchers, time crunched stitchers, and everyone in between. With step-by-step instructions and diagrams included, you'll have everything you need for your new kitchen wall accent or to give to an avo-obsessed friend.
The magic of National Craft Month is undeniable. It's a whole month that's just for crafting! And what better way to celebrate than with a quilting project. Learn something new while spending time with the old in this book, It's Quilt Magic. You'll learn all the tips and tricks to working with triangles while refining and expanding your existing skills.
This National Craft Month, our team reflected back to last March and all the making we've done since then. While there may be more indoor days in our future, that doesn't mean we can't fill them with exciting crafts and new creations. These projects and more are how we maintain balance and purpose in our lives during hard times. Finding the light in the dark is an essential part of survival, and what a light this month can be! As always, don't forget to tag us in your social media creations with @leisureartsinc and #leisurearts so we can see what's happening in your craft corner.
Do you have a stash of fabrics, yarns, Diamond Dotz, or thread? Bust that stash! Make room for more as you make something new with these gorgeous projects. There's something for every style and every stash.
We're always looking for new surfaces to dot. One of the best ways is when the light can shine right through! Dotting surfaces like vases is a great way to take an ordinary object and make it extraordinary. And there's more where that came from in Glass Sparkle. Nine downloadable projects to make with glass objects around the house will be the perfect way to add a little bit of sparkle to your decor with extra dotz from canvases.
We all know what happens at the end of a yarn project; you use part of a skein and then you don't have enough for a new project but too much to just throw away. Maybe you just couldn't resist that new color. Too much yarn is the best problem to have! Especially with books likeUse Up That Yarn From Your Stash. From coasters to coffee cozies, you'll find something small for all that extra yarn in your basket.
Whether you need to get rid of some extra fabric or you have old t-shirts to repurpose, masks are a great stash buster! Since they use so little fabric but are a new necessity, it's the best of both fun and function. Breathe Easy is full of different ways to make masks and caps for both COVID era and everyday use. Check out Breathe Easy IIfor even more design ideas and inspiration on how to use those scraps and stashed fabrics.
Using up your yarn stash can be as easy as 1-2-3. Simply pick your project, make your project, and you're done! Cowls, tunics, blankets, and more await you with books like Easy As 1-2-3 Skeins. Each project is designed to help you make the most of your stash, no matter how big or small it may be.
Quilting doesn't always have to be blankets, afghans, and throws. The same stability in a regular quilt can also be applied to smaller projects that work with the size of your stash. Quilted Purses & Totes has everything from wallets to totes to lunch bags, all in a physical or downloadable book. Try one today, it'll tote-ally fit into your closet!
Having a stash of supplies can always be a good thing for just-in-case scenarios. But when that stash gets too big, a simple project like one of the above is just what you need to bust that stash... and make room for more!
Don't forget to tag @leisureartsinc and use #leisurearts so we can see what you create! We love to see what's going on in your craft corner.
Diamond dotting with kits is fun, but have you tried Freestyle yet? It's an easy way to add dimension and sparkle to every day items, some you may never have thought of... Join us in using the Diamond Dotz® Freestyle system to dot your life!
Your pet is already the light of your life, now you can make them look like it! With just a few materials, you can get your pet looking like the shining star that they are.
To begin, you'll want to cut a piece of adhesive to the size of your tag. If you're using a common shaped tag, you'll probably be able to find a punch in the same size and shape to make a perfect template. You can also carefully hold the tag on top of the adhesive and mark around the tag, then cut around it.
Remove both sides of the adhesive covering and place on your tag. If you want to do an initial, begin with that. This tag is going to have an M for Maisie.
After you have your letter down, simply fill in the spaces, leaving the spot above the ring hole open so you don't remove any dots when putting the tag back on the collar.
Once you're done dotting, put the tag onto the collar and marvel at how beautiful your pet looks! Make sure to let the resin cure before leaving it with your pet in order to eliminate possible consumption of Dotz®.
Whether you're quarantined and can't get to the nail salon or you just love nail art, dot accents are an easy way to get a dimensional manicured look.
Start off by picking your design. This pot is getting triangles for a Tribal-meets-Art Deco look. Your could do dots, swirls, peace signs, candy stripes, or anything you can find or think of. To cut the triangles, simply cut a rectangle and make alternating diagonal cuts to achieve several similar triangles. You could also use a triangle punch.
Just like with the pet tags, remove both sides of film from the sandwich adhesive and place it on your pot. Start at the top point and work your way down to achieve even placement. Continue placing triangles and dotting them until the pot is finished.
Once again, it's as simple as that! Now your plants will glisten in the sunlight and stand out in the room.
Why stop at eyeliner? Line your eyes with Dotz® for a fun, embellished look!
Optional: Start by mapping out your shape with eyeliner. This will be easier to follow and will get covered by the Dotz®.
Follow this look for a Mod 60s look or create your own. To achieve the 60s eye, you'll dot an arc above your crease, following your eye shape until you get to the outside. The outer part of the line should extend slightly, elongating your eyes.
For the iconic lower lash line, place 3 dots on the outermost corner of your eye, then groups of 2 along your lash line. The inner most line should be 1 dot. Add mascara to your top lashes and you're done. Groovy!
Get a grip on your own sparkle! Set your phone grip apart with a custom dotted design.
This may be the easiest Freestyle project you'll ever do. Just like the pet tag, start by cutting or punching your shape. Most phone grips are 1.5" in diameter. Then place your adhesive, dot your design, and you're done! A custom phone grip in under 5 steps.
Dotting your life is as easy as idea, execution, done. With these examples and many more to come, pretty soon you'll be living the multi-faceted life of your dreams! Happy dotting!

Diamond dotting is not only fun and calming, it results in beautiful sparkly art. Just look at what you can do with acetate, a Diamond Art by Leisure Arts™ project, and Diamond Dotz® gems.
The Options Are Endless
Butterflies aren't your thing? The options are endless. Check out the other patterns in our Patches book, any of our other freestyle books, or create your own!
Download and print the butterfly design at 77% of original size from this pattern. Place the acetate over the butterfly design. Outline and fill within the design area on the acetate with the liquid adhesive.
Carefully outline and fill in with the adhesive on the areas you want to apply gems to; you should see a milky white layer of adhesive on the surface. You can apply the adhesive to one section at a time or to the entire design.
Allow the adhesive to dry until it is clear. When adhesive clears completely it is ready for long term adhesion. On non-porous surfaces such as acetate, this may take up to 3 hours. Cover the design and adhesive with a piece of protective film if you will not be applying gems right away.
Remove the clear covering on the adhesive. Apply the gems to the adhesive as desired. When you are not working on your project, place a sheet of protective film over the adhesive to protect it from dust.
When you have completed your project, place the protective film over the gems and firmly roll over the whole design with a brayer or rolling pin. This ensures that the gems are firmly adhered.
Craft Hacks & Tips
The liquid adhesive allows you to add gems art to any surface.
A bottle of liquid adhesive is enough to complete 4 full-coverage 9” x 12” artist canvases.
Estimated Crafting Time
3-5 hours plus drying time

July is the perfect time of year to get some of your holiday projects finished early. It's a great excuse to escape the heat wave and sit in your air-conditioning. And it's the best time of year to use the downtime to make memories with your family. All the projects below utilize the Diamond Dotz Freestyle program and Diamond Arts Freestyle books.
Everyone Was Diamond Dotting
'Twas six months before Christmas and all through the house, everyone was dotting, except for the mouse; The Diamond Art projects were all laid out with care, in hopes that beautiful decorations soon would be theirs; The children were nestled all snug in their chairs While projects from Sparkle Holiday and Holiday books danced in their heads;
And Ma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just arranged dots and canvases with patterns like a map, Then each of us chose a project with such excited clatter, We sprang from our chairs to pick the one that mattered.
Ma chose a Merry Christmas cross as quick as a flash, The gold and the glitter were sure to make a splash.
Junior always loved the new-fallen snow, So it was natural he grabbed the snowman box to give it a go;
When what to Jill's wondering eyes did appear, As she shuffled through diamond dotting choices with cheer. With a little red hat, white beard and a smile, she knew pretty quick, What she wanted to do was to create a sparkly St. Nick.
He had a broad face and a little round belly, Jill did such a great job, as good as grape jelly. He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf, And I laughed with joy when I saw him for myself;
More rapid than eagles our Little Johnny came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name: "Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen! He loved Rudolph the most, because he was small. Now dot away! Dot away! Dot away all!"
I watched my family with great pride and cheer, They had created a snowman, a cross, a Santa and a deer.
These Diamond Art holiday projects are not only fun, They will bring great memories for years and years to come. The Diamond Dotz are sparkly, the designs are so merry! They'll look great on the wall, the table, or a tote that you carry.
It was so nice to see the excitement and glow, I decided to dot an ornament that I could bestow; I searched and I searched and found it with glee, What I would create is a tree, to hang on a tree!
Ma, Junior, Jill, and Little Johnny couldn't get enough, and neither will you, We're so glad we stocked up, and had more dotting to do. Ma chose an ornament, dainty and sparkly and blue. She liked it soooo much, she created twenty-two.
A wink of my eye and a twist of my head Let the children know they didn't have to go to bed; They spoke not a word, but went straight to their work, And painted their stockings; then turned with a jerk,
"Look Daddy, look," they said with a shout, And giving a nod, they knew I was proud.
I sprang to my feet, to my kids gave a whistle, And hung stockings on the wall, like a painting of a thistle. And I heard them exclaim, as they headed off to sleep— "Happy Christmas in July to all, and to all a good night!"
Sparkly Decorations And Memories
So when Santa's off resting at the beach, you can make memories for your family. You'll be creating holiday decorations that can be used for years to come, or given as gifts anyone would love.
