  • A True Blue for 2020: Pantone's Color of the Year

Pantone has done it again. They've churned out a rockin' choice for 2020's color of the year: Classic Blue! Living Coral is a thing of the past, and here we are, admiring another bright, beautiful, and bold color. Pantone drew from the feeling of resilience in their color choice this year, hoping that the warmth from Classic Blue will "bring a sense of peace and tranquility to the human spirit, offering refuge." This stable and strong hue resembles the night at dusk, aiding concentration and bringing laser like clarity.

Check out what the executive director of Pantone's Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, had to say about Classic Blue.

"Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era"

The color has already become a popular shade that's being incorporated into living rooms, clothing, art, and home decor. We love it so much, we've already started using it in some of our more recent projects (*laughs in suspenseful foreshadowing tone*). We all know that the best way to a fresh start is a fresh space, and it couldn't be more true for us makers. Here are some great Leisure Arts tips and tricks on how you can incorporate Classic Blue into your 2020 life.

Classic Blue + Diamond Art = The Perfect Match

    DIY Diamond Art

    Blue Dahlia Welcome home Sign

We love how effortless and easy Diamond Art is. Classic Blue is all about finding the strength and stability we need to build the foundation for the next era. Why not build that foundation with dazzling 13 faceted diamonds? Our Beginner Blue Dahlia  (above) has the perfect shade range to satisfy your new hunger for Classic Blue. The gems make the flower stand out in any room, and give your space that relaxing feel that will put you in the perfect creative state. You can get creative with Diamond Art and take it to the next level, as you see above. The blue dahlia elevates this basic welcome home sign and transforms a foyer into a creative and unique space. We have some brand new designs coming in 2020 that feature this classic blue too, so stay tuned for those! Maybe you'll see some sneak peeks from us in the future (wink, wink).

Ring In The New Year with Resin

Add a whimsical accent in Classic Blue to your home with our DIY Resin Pour Kits! Resin is really similar to paint pouring, but with a shinier and glossier finish. our color kits give you everything you need to elevate the classic home decor piece into an abstract artwork that looks like it came straight out of Pier 21. Use any of our four colorant kits to decorate the surface of fun things like coasters, cheeseboards, serving trays, and more! This Blue Colorant Kit has a great hue to it that matches the classic blue of 2020, and you can make it as dark or as light as you want it to be!

Live It Up With Classic Blue Staples in Crochet

Everyone needs a fashion staple in their closet, make yours Classic Blue! This hooded poncho from Homespun Comfort Shawls brings a modern take to a classic fashion accessory. Add an oversized button to make this look functional and fashion forward, and you've got a great light layer that can be worn during more than one season. Use lightweight yarn for a lacy finish, or use a bulky weight yarn to get a thicker coat for those windy mornings. The choice is up to you! All we know is that this classic blue makes any accessory look good, in all weights and styles of yarn.

Knit Yourself A New 2020 Aesthetic

For the knit obsessed crafters, we have some great versatile patterns for you try. If you've been searching for simple and sophisticated patterns that can go with any getup, look no further. Modern Knits is a book full of these great neutral patterns with pops of color. This poncho features a great swash of Classic Blue as an accent. This color blocked pattern can work with just about any color, but we're just a little biased with this blue hue.

    Quilt/Sew Fun With Embroidery Hoops

Play with traditional quilt patterns and reinvent them with these projects from Quilted Wall Hangings. Classic blue makes a great contrasting accent against this sunny yellow, and the tassels are a great modern addition to the traditional dream catcher. This project is the perfect mix of traditional and modern, and there's plenty more projects just like it in this book.

Classic Blue was chosen by Pantone to bring you stability, comfort, and strength. Hopefully, we've given you some inspiration for you to create some powerful and creative projects.
