  • Wedding Week: Keepsakes & Quickies in Cross Stitch

Cross stitchers automatically reach for needle and floss when they hear the word wedding. Am I right? If so, I’ve got some project suggestions for you for this wedding season.

If a true heirloom, keepsake design is what you have in mind, you might want to try your hand at Through a Mother’s Eyes or Through a Father’s Eyes. Both are based on paintings originally created by artist Paula Vaughn, and both are charted in full color.

If you’re looking for a basic wedding sampler that will be semi-quick to finish, take a look at United in God’s Love from the Leisure Arts Praying Hands series.

The 11 designs feature simple borders and such classic inspirational quotes as:

“And the two shall become one.”

“This is my beloved and this is my friend.”

“Love one another as I have loved you.”

“Behold, how good and pleasant it is to dwell together in unity.”

“Love one another with a pure heart.”

And including (as seen on the front cover) the lovely verses from 1 Cor. 13: “Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous…”

  • Wedding Week: Sweet Treats

If you’re planning a wedding shower, rehearsal dinner, or reception, you’re going to need some sweet treats, and these three cookbooks are loaded with ideas.

Thinking about skipping the traditional (expensive) wedding cake to instead serve cupcakes that you can bake and decorate yourself? In Celebrating Cupcakes, you’ll find around 75 recipes to choose from, including these Country Wedding Cupcakes. How pretty!

Cookies are always welcome on special occasions. Celebrating Cookies features some lovely possibilities:

Ring-shaped cookies in graduated sizes are stacked to create a pretty centerpiece in this Almond Cookie Tree.

They‘re called New Year’s Toast Cookies in the book, but how classic would these cookies be on the champagne table?

And what could be more perfect that Monogrammed Cookies for celebrating that special day?

You’ll find even more wonderfully elegant cookie recipes in Celebrating Cookies, Book 2.

The beautifully-packaged Sandies (aka Mexican or Greek Wedding Cookies) would please any shower or wedding guest.

Wedding Bells, traditional iced sugar cookies, would be an elegant addition to a rehearsal dinner or formal reception.

And those are just a few of the sweet treats in these books that could help make your celebration perfect!!!

  • Wedding Bells Are Ringing

We had a Wedding Shower here at Leisure Arts on Friday, for Lindsay, one of our knit & crochet editors, and her husband-to-be, Adam.

They got lots of goodies to help start their new life together…

…And we got to celebrate with lots of treats!

Check out the cake. Isn’t it pretty!

As usual, the decorations were simply beautiful thanks to some of the talented ladies that work here at Leisure Arts who combined lacy doilies, mason jars, buttons, and a couple of bouquets of flowers to create lovely, vintage-look centerpieces.

These would be easy to recreate in no time for your next event.

Congratulations Lindsay and Adam! Best wishes from all of us here at Leisure Arts!
