I Will Always Choose to Make More Granny Squares

I did it again.  I stayed up late and crocheted some squares from 99 Granny Squares to Crochet.  This time it was Square #49 and I had far too much fun with mixing some really simple solid colors.

I used cotton dishcloth yarn because I have a lot of those scraps.  I used ecru yarn for the center and Sugar n' Cream Denim for the edging.  This was fun!  It has a little bit of detail without being fussy, and I love how the treble front post crochet stitches divide the square into 4 perfect squares.

I'm also in love with my color choices because they look summery and cheerful to me.  I can't wait to make more.  None of the patterns in 99 Granny Squares to Crochet have a yarn requirement, which thrills me to no end.  You can do anything!  Anything at all!  Just use whatever yarn you have on hand and whatever crochet hook you feel like using.  I used worsted weight yarn and an H hook because that's what I typically use when I work with worsted weight yarn.  The squares are an impressive 6" across, and I think you could make a sweet little banner out of these squares with some sock yarn and a little hook.

But I think I might want to hang these squares outside! I'm a sucker for banners, and I think a banner of these squares would look cute hanging across the top of our balcony!  It would be fun, and almost jaunty even!

This is what happens to people when they don't get enough sleep and crochet into the wee hours of the morning while watching too much TV online.  They start thinking they can decorate like they live on a boat and they're very tired throughout the day because, when they do sleep, they dream of color combinations for granny squares.

There are worst ways to live.  There are lives with no granny squares in them at all.  Now if you'll excuse me, I have more square colors to contemplate.
