Quilting is a long-standing tradition in Susan Emory’s family. She is a fifth-generation quilter and turned her hobby into a business when she bought a quilt shop in 2006. As a graphic designer, Susan was inspired to design quilts and formed Swirly Girls Design in 2008.In addition to quilt patterns and books, Susan is a licensed designer for Michael Miller Fabrics, Dill Buttons and Creative Grids™. She eventually sold her quilt shop to focus on design and teaching. Susan is actively involved in the quilting industry, a member of the International Association of Creative Arts Professionals, a member of Central Virginia Modern Quilt Guild, and an Aurifil™ Thread Specialist. When not traveling and teaching, she lives at home with her husband, Mike, in Moseley, Virginia. They have three adult children Muriah, Alyssa and Chance.
