Karen Barnes is an avid yarn-lover who has been crocheting since the age of 12, taught by her grandmother and later inspired by pattern stitch encyclopedias. The school bus driver and mother of two grown children says afghans are her favorite project. She came up with the idea of sports afghans when her son asked her to make special Christmas gifts for his friends.
