10 Yarn Stash-Busting Projects Ideas

10 Yarn Stash-Busting Projects Ideas

We both know that yarn buying is just as much of a hobby as the actual hobby you're buying the yarn for. Don't deny it - we all know it's true! And we also know that remnants seem to have a basket (or closet) of their own! If you're like me, I can't part with a partial skein because you never know when I'll need that color in another project! So, with that in mind, let's work through our yarn-stash and make a few things! You might be inspired by a few items below to try something new (meaning: a new reason to buy more yarn!).

1. Pom Pom Flowers
This is a fantastic way to use any of your scrap yarn! Get creative and make lots of pom pom flowers!

2. Yarn Painting!
Draw a picture on canvas and create a unique yarn painting! Check out this Monstre Leaf! AND the book includes photos of instructions to guide you along the way.

3. Punch Needle
You can use a punch needle on fabric to create a variety of home decor items....wall hangings, pillows, stuffed animals, bags....the list goes on!

4. Weaving
Leisure Arts has a variety of options for Weaving. There's a Learn to Weave book, a Textured Pillows book, and then one that uses bulky-super bulky yarns called Woven Home. You're going to LOVE this new craft.

5. Plastic Canvas
Oh the options with plastic canvas! Magnets, coasters, boxes, ornaments, keychains, doormats, bookmarks....yep, lots of ideas for you! It can be as basic or advanced as you want to get! Check out this amazing Tote!

6. Crochet Flowers
Make a wreath with quick crochet flowers! These are great stash-busters!

7. Knit Dishcloths
You can NEVER have enough dishcloths and knit-cloths are the BEST! Learn to knit and make a few of these to have on hand.

8. Loom Knitting
Looms come in all shapes and sizes and it's something that all age-ranges can try! Believe it or not, you can loom knit socks, cloths, blankets, pillows, headwraps, scarves, hats, bags....see what I'm saying? You have to try it! Any sock monkey fans?

9. Knook
This is basically knitting with a crochet hook. It's so creative as it allows those who can't use two needles to knit to use just one hook! So, if you've ever wanted to try knitting and couldn't manage the two needles--here's your chance.

10. Macrame
Macrame doesn't have to use just rope and cords...you can use YARN! Look at these useful sandals! You can use a flip-flop base and make your own! And it doesn't take much yarn...so, make a pair for you and your friends!

I am so excited to try some new crafts and use my yarn-stash....what will you make with yours?!?
